The Cancer Foundation League (CFL) is affiliated with the Louisiana Cancer Foundation as a fundraising arm to help with outreach and to support the Foundation’s programs and services. We aim to provide direct financial assistance to individuals diagnosed with cancer.
The Mission of the Cancer Foundation League (CFL) is to provide services to area cancer patients and also to support the Louisiana Cancer Foundation.

The CFL is committed to improving the financial, emotional, and physical well-being of cancer patients in Northeast Louisiana. We hope to help lighten the financial burden so that a patient and his/her family can concentrate their efforts on fighting the disease of cancer.
The Cancer Foundation League (CFL) has one primary fundraiser a year, a Gala. One hundred percent of all funds raised are distributed locally in Northeast Louisiana. In 2010, we expanded our fundraising efforts to include a 5K Run and the 1st annual "Theresa Marsala Golf Tournament."
Of the funds raised through these events, seventy percent (70%) of the funds go to the CFL for patient services to help patients with costs such as medication expenses, transportation to and from treatments, utility bills, medical equipment, car notes, and mortgage or rent payments. In addition, the funds are used to help with our annual Christmas baskets that are distributed to area patients we have helped in the previous year. Thirty percent (30%) of raised funds are given to the Louisiana Cancer Foundation to help with their programs, such as support groups, providing 4 free public cancer screenings a year, and grants. To be eligible for assistance, you must be a cancer patient who lives in Northeast Louisiana or who is receiving cancer treatment in Northeast Louisiana. If you qualify, you can complete an application.
Carla Costello is a six-year member and President of the Cancer Foundation League. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Northeast Louisiana University in Dental Hygiene. Carla and her husband, Dr. Vance Costello, have been married for 23 years and have two 2 sons, Connor and Ethan. A 100% boy mom, Carla spends most of her free time attending activities and sporting events for her boys. Carla is also the Business manager for Dr. Costello’s three dental practices, NELA Dental, in Monroe, Farmerville, and Oak Grove.
Amanda McMullen is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, with a degree in Public Relations and Communications. She is a four year member of the Cancer Foundation League, holding the publicity chair since the first year she joined. Chosen as one of the Top 20 Under 40 Professionals in Northeast Louisiana, Amanda serves as the Community Outreach & Marketing Coordinator at the Delhi Hospital. She has a wonderful family Matt & Cooper, along with Bosco and Willie the Golden Retrievers and Miss Jackson the cat.
A native of East Carroll Parish, Andrea has recently relocated to Monroe from Houston, Texas. She is corresponding secretary for the Cancer Foundation League (2018-2019) , a member of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra Board, member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association and Grace Episcopal Church.
Karen received her Master Degree + 30 from University of Louisiana Monroe in Early Childhood Special Education. For 33 years, she has taught children ages 0-6 with special needs. She is currently the Cancer Foundation League Recording Secretary, United Way Steamboat Co-Chair, member of the Krewe of Iris, and a hospice volunteer. Karen and her husband Dean are members of North Monroe Baptist Church. They enjoy traveling and spending with their children and grandchildren.
Susan is a partner with Hulsey, Harwood & Sheridan, CPAs. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from ULM. She is a member of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of CPAs, and the AutoCPA Group. A five-year breast cancer survivor, Susan serves as Treasurer of the Cancer Foundation League. She is a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Northeast Louisiana. Susan has a husband, Bob, three daughters, two grandchildren, and one of the way!
Sarah Grant is a Monroe native, but has made her home in Start, La with her husband Josh of 8 years. She is a member of North Monroe Baptist Church. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Masters of Exercise Science from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She is the Assistant Treasurer of the Cancer Foundation League where she is active on several committees. Sarah is also a member of the Dream Hunt Foundation and is responsible for all Dream Hunt activities in the Monroe area. Sarah enjoys giving back to her community and spending time with family and friends.
A native of Monroe and a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and Northeast Louisiana University. Debbie is an active member of Foundry Church where she volunteers her time. She is employed with KNOE TV as a media consultant for the past 13 years. Debbie is a former board member of Northeast Louisiana Ad Club and is actively involved with Ouachita Women’s Tennis. She enjoys travel, spending time outdoors and family time with her children and grandchildren.
Currently is Assistant Director of the Louisiana Cancer Foundation. She is Past President of the Junior League of Monroe and is an active volunteer with several local charitable agencies. Past boards service include Center for Children & Families,Children’s Coalition of Northeast Louisiana, State board of Prevent Child Abuse, Go Care, Grace Episcopal School, Youth House of Ouachita, Junior League of Monroe, CASA of Fourth Judicial District and Northeast Louisiana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
Alise is a native of Caldwell Parish but made her home in Monroe. She is a Farmer’s wife, mother and a Mimi. She is the Immediate Past President of the Cancer Foundation League and President of the Monroe Garden Club. Alise is actively involved as a River Oaks Mustang mom and is a volunteer with the St. Francis Medical Center Foundation. She is also a member of the Monroe Symphony Book League, the Krewe of Iris and the ULM Alumni Association. Alise is proud to be a past PTO President and Girl Scout Leader and enjoys helping others in our community.
